Access to Medicines Week

Unlocking Access: 25 Years of UAEM

25 years ago, UAEM started at Yale when students pushed their university to stop blocking access to a lifesaving HIV drug discovered on the Yale campus. Now, students and researchers are leading the university movement across the world to unlock access to the health innovations discovered on university campuses and with public funding.

Access to Medicines Week 2026 is centered on how UAEM has opened the door to access on so many campuses, and what we have to do to ensure this progress continues for the next 25 years and beyond.
