While the core of our student-driven organizing has historically focused on influencing universities as key players and IP holders in the drug pipeline process, UAEM today has mobilized people in over 30 countries to work at the local, national and global levels to fight for a more equitable biomedical R&D system that favors people over profit.
OUR THREE MAIN PILLARS: ACCESS, INNOVATION, AND EMPOWERMENT
ACCESS GOAL: Medicines and health technologies, particularly those developed at universities and research institutions or with public funding, are made accessible and affordable to all people
INNOVATION GOAL: Universities and public research institutions increase focus, investment, and support for research and development for the world’s most neglected health needs
EMPOWERMENT GOAL: Students are active change-makers for health equity and justice and are socially conscious citizens
